Have a bag of Ore Ida fries lingering up in the back of your freezer? One you try preparing frozen French fries in the air fryer, that bag will vanish in no time!

I’ve tried preparing frozen fries using the oven, stove, and microwave, but there truly is no similarity.

When you whip them up in the air fryer, they come out as hot and crispy as the ones you get from your favorite fast food establishment!

Best of all, they’re ready in 15 minutes, and you don’t even have to leave your home.

If your family is anything like mine, they’ll never say no to French fries.

And due to the air fryer, you can have a batch ready to serve in only 15 minutes including pre-heat time! This fast and simple meal is one you’ll come back to time and again.

I created this dish using the 5.8 QT Cosori Air Fryer. Its square basket gives it the right size for our family of 4.

How Long to Cook Frozen French Fries in the Air Fryer

This recipe is for slim French fries, which could be branded shoestring or thin cut, depending on the manufacturer. They should take around 10 minutes total when the air fryer is warmed.

If you’re using thicker fries, you’ll want to cook them a bit longer. In such case, be sure to jiggle the basket every five minutes.

What Brand of Frozen French Fries Work Best for this Recipe?

I prefer to use Ore Ida golden shoestrings for this dish. They’re slender like fast food fries, and I absolutely adore the way they become so crispy on the exterior while being pillowy-soft on the inside!

I’ve also seen frozen shoestring fries available by other brands including Meijer, Market Pantry, and Great Value.

You’re allowed to use whichever brand you choose, but make sure they’re shoestring or thin sliced if you want them to be as comparable as possible to fast restaurant fries.

Tips for Making the Best Frozen Fries in the Air Fryer
You don’t need to add any more oil to the fries. They already have oil in them, so adding extra oil might make them mushy.
If you’re cooking the complete bag, you may move the fried fries to a cookie sheet and throw them in the oven on WARM. That way, they’ll stay hot and crispy while you prepare the other frozen fries.
Be careful to jiggle the basket every 5 minutes or so. This will help the fries to cook more evenly and properly crisp up on both sides.

Can You Reheat French Fries in the Air Fryer?

Absolutely! In fact, I believe this is the only method to reheat leftover french fries that genuinely tastes as wonderful as when they were newly cooked.

I’ve tried reheating fries in the microwave, in the oven, and on the stove, and they’re never worth it. But with the air fryer, they came out hot and fresh every time!

Preheat the air fryer to 400 degrees F.
Lay the remaining French fries in the air fryer basket.
Cook for 3-5 minutes until crispy and cooked all the way through.
