Air Fryer Meringue

Air Fryer Meringue

Here’s a simple recipe for making crisp and crunchy on the outside, soft and mallowy on the inside meringues in the air fryer:

Ingredients:

  • 3 large egg whites, at room temperature
  • 3/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • Pinch of salt

Instructions:

  1. Preheat the Air Fryer:
    • Turn the air fryer to 120°C (250°F) and allow it to preheat for a few minutes.
  2. Prepare the Meringue:
    • In a clean, dry bowl, beat the egg whites with an electric mixer until soft peaks form.
  3. Add Sugar Gradually:
    • Gradually add the granulated sugar, one tablespoon at a time, while continuing to beat the egg whites. Ensure that the sugar is fully incorporated and the mixture becomes glossy and forms stiff peaks.
  4. Add Vanilla and Salt:
    • Gently fold in the vanilla extract and a pinch of salt until well combined.
  5. Pipe or Spoon Meringue:
    • Line the air fryer basket with parchment paper.
    • Pipe or spoon the meringue onto the parchment paper, creating individual meringue nests or shapes.
  6. Air Fry the Meringues:
    • Place the meringues in the preheated air fryer. Cook at 120°C (250°F) for 40 minutes or until the meringues are crisp and golden on the outside.
  7. Cool:
    • Once the meringues are cooked, turn off the air fryer and let them cool completely inside the air fryer with the door slightly ajar.
  8. Serve:
    • Once cooled, carefully remove the meringues from the air fryer and serve. They should be crisp on the outside and delightfully soft and mallowy on the inside.
  9. Optional:
    • You can customize the flavor by adding a few drops of food coloring or experimenting with different extracts.

Enjoy your homemade air-fried meringues!
